Sanjay Katre started gluing Radium Reflectors on road dividers to make them visible in the dark, as a road safety measure. He initiated this task singularly with his own money.

Many hands joined Sanjay and about 30 kms of city roads of Kolhapur started glittering with reflectors . Now it became a “KATRE TEAM” of about 15 people.Slowly, but surely, a traffic awareness movement was born. Financial help started pouring in from Kolhapurians for this noble venture.

A one act play “Traffic –Traffic” was performed by school and college students in Shahu Smarak Bhavan,Dasara Chowk that was applauded by one and all. The play sheds light on the road safety issues, forcing the audience to introspect about traffic related issues in everyday life. It tries to convey a touching message, in a way that the youth can relate to.

S. M. Lohiha High School and Padmaraje Girls’ High School were among the first schools to arrange the show ‘Traffic Traffic’ for their students. Shri. A. V. Gujar, Police Inspector, Traffic (Kolhapur city), addressed the audience and expressed his views on the subject. The play was a grand success and had the desired effect on the students present.
